Malta’s met office issues ‘yellow warning’
Malta's met office issues 'yellow warning' over strong north-west winds!
All of today's Gozo Fast Ferry trips have been cancelled in light of these weather conditions.
This week might be coming to a close, but Mother Nature's only just getting started...
The meteorological office within Malta International Airport (MIA) has just issued a yellow warning over strong winds hitting the islands today.
"Northwest wind, which will veer North Northwest, will be strong at times over the Maltese Islands," the met office wrote.
The warning is valid until 9pm tonight.
The forecast states that winds can get as strong as Force Six today. Having said that, these will subside to a maximum of Force Five by tomorrow, before dropping to Force Two and Three for the foreseeable future.
Given these weather conditions, Gozo Fast Ferry operator Virtu Ferries Gozo cancelled all trips between Valletta and Mgarr, Gozo and vice versa for today.
Following today's strong winds, the weekend's set to be rather meteorologically uneventful.
Partly cloudy skies are forecast for both Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th October, with temperature highs of 25°C and 24°C predicted for the two days, respectively.
Temperatures will drop to lows of 18°C on both days.
